I just received my sticker renewal and it shows the full amount due.
It will show the full amount due. We will need your social security number, date of birth, and name in order to look on the Benefit Access Online Application to verify if you still qualify for a discount.
How do I get a license plate discount?
If you are a one person household and total gross income is below $33,562 annual or 2 person household and total gross income is below $44,533 annual and you are age 65 or older or disabled you will qualify. Discount eligibility is 2 years from the time your application is approved.
How much will have to pay for my sticker?
$24 per household for one vehicle
What funds are available to assist me thru the Senior Center?
Depends on what funding is available and what your need is. You will need to contact Information & Assistance for current information.
How much money can I earn from working and still receive my social security without being penalized
If you’re full retirement age; unlimited income. Full retirement age depends on your date of birth. You will need to check the social security website for your full retirement age. If you are not full retirement age; in 2021 the income limit is $18,960.
When can I apply for Medicare?
You can apply 3 months before your 65th birthday, the month of your birthday, and 3 months after with no penalty. If you have been declared disabled by the social security administration, you will be automatically enrolled in Medicare on the 25th month of your social security approved disability.
I can’t afford to pay for my medicine.
There are various programs that Information & Assistance can discuss with you including Extra Help, Medicaid, and pharmaceutical assistance. There
are income and asset guidelines that must be met.
I can’t afford to pay for my Medicare premium.
Medicare Savings Program. Must meet income and asset guidelines for this program. If you meet those guidelines, Information and Assistance will apply for this program for you. And; if you are approved for this program; you will automatically qualify to get Extra Help for the Medicare drug coverage.
Can I be paid to take care of my elderly family member?
The Senior Resource Center does not pay an individual to take care of their loved one.
What age can I receive services from the Senior Resource Center?
Age 60 and above for most programs.
What senior housing is available in Stephenson & JD County?
There are multiple housing possibilities for seniors. We do have a listing and would be happy to mail or email them to you.
What are the age requirements and asset qualifications to receive help thru the Community Care Program?
Age 60 and above and asset level of $17,500 for a one person household and $35,000 for a two person household.
Will you fill out my property tax freeze?
Yes. We will make an appointment for you to come to our office and complete the form. We will need your income taxes, or if you don’t file taxes; your ending income statements.
