Lunch & Learn: Vaccines & Volunteering-Staying Healthy & Giving Back
The Senior Resource Center invites the public to its next Lunch & Learn event on Wednesday, June 12, featuring special guests from FHN (Freeport Health Network) who will discuss two important topics: recommended adult vaccines and volunteer opportunities within the health system.
The program, “Vaccines & Volunteering: Staying Healthy & Giving Back” will begin at 12:00 p.m. at the Senior Resource Center, located at 206 E. Stephenson St., Freeport. There is no cost to attend, and registration is not required. Guests are encouraged to bring a sack lunch.
Margie Kochsmier, Infection Preventionist at FHN, will provide a comprehensive overview of adult vaccines—what’s recommended, why they matter, where to get them, and how they’re covered by insurance. She will cover a range of vaccines including COVID-19, RSV, shingles, pneumonia, tetanus, and influenza, helping attendees better understand how to stay protected and healthy.
Also speaking will be Maddie Obert, FHN’s Volunteer Coordinator, who will highlight meaningful ways to give back by volunteering at FHN. From greeting patients to helping behind the scenes, there are roles for a variety of interests and schedules.
“This is a great opportunity to learn more about protecting your health and also how to make a difference in the lives of others,” said Ann Marie Walker, Marketing Coordinator at the Senior Resource Center. “We’re excited to partner with FHN for this informative and engaging event.”
